Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TN Chamber) was established in the year 1924 with the primary object of serving the cause of Trade and Industry. For more than 97 years, it has steadily grown in strength and diversified its services and activities. The membership strength of the Chamber has exceeded 5400 with more than 200 smaller chambers and trade & industrial associations affiliated to it. By far, it is one of the largest Chambers in India in membership strength and also a very active Chamber.
Chamber leaves no stone unturned in achieving its mission viz.., “growth of trade, industry, agriculture and export business in Tamilnadu, particularly, in the economically and industrially backward southern districts and insisting the Central and State governments to provide necessary infrastructure for the development of this region, that would ultimately benefit the entire people of Tamilnadu”.
Holding conferences, seminars, workshops and entrepreneurship development programmes to motivate entrepreneurs, manufacturers and farmers to go in for innovative and value added products, making effective and timely representations and offering valuable suggestions to the State and Central Governments to ensure ease of doing business, more particularly to the MSME sector, taking trade delegations to foreign countries promoting bi-lateral exim trade and joint ventures, conducting Trade Fairs both domestic and international to quote a few, are the important activities of the Chamber. Constructing a Convention and Trade Centre in the outskirt of Madurai, at par with the Trade Centre at Chennai, in the site belonging to the Tamilnadu Chamber Foundation, a Trust, is the next ambitious programme of the Chamber.
